Youbneed to turn on HDMI control on the receiver and in the TV HDMI options. My denon receiver was the same way. Had to enable HDMI control in the receiver's menu and also needed to turn on the options in the TV's menu. A google search on how to enable ARC should give the results you are looking for. Also your receiver may have to TV Audio input or something similar for you to hear the audio.
