“The TV is extremely bright. Is there a way to turn this down or find a proper setting I don’t know about? I’ve gone through game mode, vivid and stuff like that but it doesn’t really help much. Am I missing something? It’s way too bright for me.”

Yes, I noticed this as well especially at night in a darkened room. If “Calibrated DARK” setting isn’t dark enough for you then go into advanced setting and lower the BACKLIGHT down below 50% then play around with the brightness and other settings. You can also set the automatic Ambient light sensor to “On” which will adjust to the room light and should still give a beautiful picture but without the painful brightness.
