• nah man dont go changing ssss system is legit just like it is. like they say if it aint broke dont fix it.

• You can, in fact, only use the bar and sub without the rear speakers effectively leaving you with a 3.1 system. It will not harm anything. I would shop for a 3.1 system if you don't intend to use rear speakers though. I hope this was helpful.
