• I can't advise on avoiding defects, but I can say I have no had any issues with the arc. Just bought mine about a month ago.

• DaveThis sound bar sucks it probably would be better if you were a parent it with a Vizio TV but since I'm parent would've sold the TV I cannot control it with any of the remote except for the sound bar remote I wish I could take it back sorry about the negative feedback but I spent a grip of money on something that sucks I thought you was at
