QuestionHow are the satellite speakers connected to the system? Are they wire connected? I'm interested in this system if I don't have to run a wire to connect them. I'm looking to minimize wiring that I have with my current system.

- Answer The satellite speakers connect to the subwoofer via wires, and the subwoofer connects wirelessly to the sound bar. Each satellite speaker has a single wire that plugs into the back of the speaker, this wire is at least 20 feet long.

QuestionDoes the HDMI input on this unit support HDMI 2.0a or 2.0b for 4k60, HDR, and HDCP 2.2 support? Does the HDMI output also support HDMI 2.0a or 2.0b for 4k60, HDR, and HDCP 2.2 support? If not, what HDMI spec are the ports compliant with?

- Answer The soundbar is not capable of 4K Passthrough. So, no 4K@60, no HDR. It is capable of HDCP 2.2, though, with a maximum resolution Passthrough of 1080P at 120hz.

QuestionCan the soundbar be used without the rear speakers...only the soundbar and the woofer?

- Answer Thank you for a great question! Definitely! The satellite speakers each connect with a cord to the subwoofer for use. If you do not wish to connect them, use the included display remote control or via the SmartCast app, disable the rear surrounds. The SB4551-D5 will automatically mix the rear content into the sound bar. The sound bar will also provide a simulated surround sound experience utilizing the built-in DTS StudioSound technologies! You can connect them later and enable the surround setting when desired to receive the full experience. Thanks again and have a great day! -Collin

QuestionHow long is the wiring (in Inches) that is used to connect the rear speakers to the subwoofer? Is it a standard type of speaker wiring in case it is not long enough for my situation?

QuestionIs the sound quality better in the 45" 5.1 than the 38" or 36" 5.1. Is there that much difference between the three.

- Answer I originally purchased and installed the 38" 5.1. It had a very clean sound but lacked the low end. When I returned it and set up the VIZIO - SmartCast™ 5.1-Channel Soundbar System with 26.5" Wireless Subwoofer - Black the difference was immediate and pronounced. The price difference is totally worth it to me and my audio preferences. I am very satisfied by it[s overall performance.

QuestionThis was in my garage for a short time and a rodent got into the port of the subwoofer and chewed into something. Can you purchase a subwoofer separately? Will a SmartCast subwoofer from a different model version still pair to this sound bar?

- Answer You cannot buy the sub separately. I tried to do that when my sub refused to pair with the soundbar, but the Vizio rep I spoke to said I was out of luck.

QuestionIs there a way for the subwoofer and satellite speakers to turn on when you turn on the sound bar using the remote the system came with? I have to manually flip the switch behind the subwoofer each time I turn on the sound bar.

- Answer On your remote, press the menu button and then the up or down buttons on the keypad to navigate to the item that says "Link" on your screen. Then click the left or right arrow to make it say "yes", then press the play button. The subwoofer should then be linked and will turn on and off as you turn the soundbar on and off.

- Answer The sound bar to subwoofer connection is wireless but, the satellite speakers will need to connect to the subwoofer via speaker cables which are provided.

QuestionI need to use in-ceiling speakers instead of the included rear channel satellite speakers. Will they work if I simply terminate the existing speaker wire wire with an RCA plug, and connect those to the back of the subwoofer?

- Answer I don't see why it wouldn't work. The Speakers have a regular RCA plug. Any satellite speaker should work fine via RCA as long as the wattage is not too high(read big speakers).

This soundbar can play music via a USB drive, but the drive will need to be formatted to FAT32, and the music must be in .WAV format. Outside of this, you can connect audio device with Optical, Digital Coaxial, 3.5mm, RCA (red/white), Bluetooth, and through Google Cast. - Answer I have sub alongside sofa since it did not fit under sofa: SUB: 26 1/2" WIDE; 16 1/4 TALL; Stand Base WIDTH 6" ...However, if sub is placed underneath sofa, you'll need at minimum 5" to 7" clearance since sub thickness is about 3 1/4". Speakers: Square 2 3/8 by 2 3/8 by 5 3/8 high ---- Don't worry... there is enough length in cable to go reach other side of sofa when sub is along either side. I recommend speaker stand: Atlantic Model #: SPSCUR47.... wires are hidden and speakers fit perfectly!
