“Will the sound bar produce 3.1 and work if the back speakers are not used? Meaning can the sound system still perform adequately with just the sound bar and the Sub-woofer? I may not install the speakers until a later date, waiting for furniture.”

Yes the sound bar should work just fine without using the speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can just use the sound bar and the subwoofer in your setup without using that satellite speakers. You will still get good output, although if the sound output from your media center is 5.1 then you would lose out on the details the satellite speakers would have produced.
