• Ellie - The VTech CM series is a digital phone system. The telephone system works with a digital service as long as it uses an RJ11 or RJ14 telephone line ports. Only the console model CM18445 requires connection to the telephone line, while the CM18245 are registered wirelessly to the console. Thank you, -VTech Support
