Molly - The call will go to the first unit of the VTech CM18445 that will pick up and the second unit that will try to answer the same call will get the dial tone for the next available line in the system. The VTech CM18445 has a call privacy feature, that is set to ON by default, which will not allow 2 person to answer an incoming call. Any system extension of the VTech CM18445 can join a call in progress by pressing the line key which is currently in use to set up a conference. To place a call on hold on the cordless handset, you need to press the Hold Softkey when the handset extension is in use. Thank you! -VTech Support
