• As long as it’s plugged into a phone outlet it should work independently.

• Hi - The VTech CS5119 can be connected on the same line where your existing phone system is plugged in. You just have to make sure that the telephone base is installed on an AC power and active phone line. The telephone unit will work as an extension phone, however, it will not communicate with your other phone units at home. Thank you, -VTech Support
