Can someone leave a message while I’m on the phone? null

Austin - The answering machine of the VTech CS6949 can only pick up if the line is not in use. You may want to subscribe to Voicemail from your Telephone Service Provider as a back up. You just have to make sure that the number of rings for the phone's built in answering machine is lower than Voicemail. Thank you, -VTech Support
