Paige - We are sorry to hear that the VTech RM5752 does not work as expected. Try to move the baby unit near the parent unit (not less than 3 feet away). Move the unit away from electronic devices that can cause interference. You may also reset the system by disconnecting the power and battery. Wait for 1 minute before you reconnect the power and battery then test it again.
