“How do I go about changing the battery? I can't get the device open. Duh”

Pull straight out on the black part while holding the silver part. The works will come out from the silver cover, and you’ll see the battery.

You have to pull hard as if you're going to break it lol. It will release itself. I had the same issue but finally figured it out. Would have been nice if it came with better instructions.

Believe it or not, it seems hard at first, but it gets easier. Look for the line about midway at the body. One hand on one part, one hand on the other and pull straight. DO NOT PULL AT TWO ANGLES, YOU MIGHT DAMAGE IT. PULL THE TWO HALVES STRAIGHT APART! It will separate. If you do not have a strong grip, use a pair of gloves or a hand towel for gripping strength.

It's not one of those twist to open trimmers. You kind of have to pull it open from the tip of the trimmer, just be careful not to pull apart the blade tip.

just pull it apart.. without cap hold top by power button and hold bottom..

The bottom silver portion of the case slides off to reveal the battery.
