Hi Pamela, Thanks for reaching out to us here! There are 17 parts that need to be assembled with 7 building steps. The estimated assembly time is 120 minutes with two people. Because of it's size and weight, we recommend having two people move the item before and after assembly. Once it is assembled, if the item is dragged rather than lifted, the supports can break. This bookcase comes with the parts, hardware, assembly instructions, and the allen wrench needed for assembly. The only thing not included is a phillips head screwdriver.
