While I am not a professional I might be able to add some general information having just gone trough an installation of a 48” wall mounted range hood: 1. Make sure you measure the area to ensure it will accommodate the 48” hood, (width and height) 2. Consider the height of your ceilings, if they are over 9 feet you may need to separately purchase a chimney extension as many hoods do not come with chimneys to accommodate taller ceiling heights. 3. Where is your electrical outlet? make sure it is hidden in the area of your chimney so it is not visible, 4. Do you have all the parts necessary to install, 5. How is it vented ? If to the outside, make sure you have all ductwork in place. Most installers do not want to go into an attic space to hook up the ducting. 6. Determine the height of the hood from the countertop. Hoods over a Gas cooktop should be higher than an electric cooktop but in my opinion the height is a matter of personal choice and CFMs of the hood itself. I placed mine 31.5” above the cooktop heat source and it is fine. Still in the mist of my kitchen remodel (need tile and some cabinetry) Hope this helps!
