Yes, It is compatible with the PS5! The PS5 recognizes it and then asks to format. I installed after Sony sent out the latest PS5 OS update on 9/15/2021. All my PS5 games run just like on the internal console SSD. Lightening fast. No hassle easy peasy installation.

Yes, this will work with a PS5. I placed my 2B SSD with Heatsink last week on my disc console and everything went smoothly.

Hi LeeS, Please be informed “Based on Sony’s published requirements, we can confirm our WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD with Heatsink (500GB-2TB) meets the stated requirements to expand console storage on the PlayStation 5 for those with access to the PlayStation 5 Beta software. Compatibility testing is in progress.” We will upgrade that to yes it works once we are able to complete compatibility testing. It is important to not push non-heatsink since Sony specified heatsink version.

Yes it will . Make sure it’s ssd w/ heatsink though. Sony specifically calls for it to be to work properly.
