- Answer HP systems require the motherboard and the hard drives to be tattooed to the box information. You would need to check with HP for compatible Hard Drives with your particular system. The unit I replaced had a Seagate Hard Drive; but this was NOT an HP. This was a Dell Precision Workstation.

- Answer I would recommend you not use this drive for your primary os boot drive. consider a SSD. It will help with boot times and overall responsiveness of your machine. As far as the ram, you dont need to upgrade, being that it is ddr2 you owont see marked differences and unless you just have some laying around it isnt really worth it price considering. Additionally consider that once you start purchasing upgrade parts eventually you will reach a point where you exceed the price of a new modern budget pc

- Answer Contact your computer mfg to find out if they support an OS download for your system. I do know many do that with instructions on how to load that onto a bootable thumb drive and how that is installed. This system was a DELL which allowed me to download the OS for free as long as I had the key from the box.
