It does not come with software in the package as it is a barebones hard drive in a plain brown box but Western Digital offers a free copy of data transfer software on their website that is customized for Western Digital drives. If you visit their site just go to the Downloads/Software section and you should see Acronis True Image WD Edition as the first result, Acronis True Image is a well known and trusted software.
