Hi. Same guy here, shopping for another, bigger drive. Wanted to update my answer. Supply chain problems during Covid were responsible for the sharp rise in prices for electronics and anything else made overseas (which would be everything). These haven't completely disappeared, but they have abated sufficiently that prices have come down considerably, back to normal-ish. Right now (tax time, 2023), BestBuy has WD - easystore 14TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black / Model:WDBAMA0140HBK-NESNSKU:6425303 on sale for $219.99. I would go for it!

This depends on a number of factors: snafus in the supply chain, inflation, technical advances, demand, where purchased, etc. The cheapest I've seen it for was $230, I think. But just last year, I bought a 12TB drive for almost $350 (which was higher than the lowest price I had seen that one, $280), so my advice is not to wait for the price to go down further, but just buy it when you can afford it and then do yourself a favor and stop shopping for something you have already purchased.
