Fantastic External Drive for Most PC Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this on sale at $239.99. Total Storage Size is actually 12.7TB. Previous reviews indicate this drive is 5400rpm, newer shipments run an updated model that states 7200rpm. https://smarthdd.com/database/WDC-WD140EDGZ-11B2DA2/85.00A85/ I bought this drive to store & play games off of and the drive serves that purpose well for 90% of PC games and PC emulated games. It only struggles with modern open world games like Elden Ring or Marvel's Spider-man Remastered. World of Warcraft & a heavily modded Bethesda game like Elder Scrolls/Fallout suffer as well. This is just a limit of most external HDD drives in general though and doesn't reflect poorly on the drives overall great performance for most other games. I have included screenshots from CrystalDiskInfo & CrystalDiskMark Scores from that drive at 86% full

Huge capacity, how will I ever fill it?
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As stated, this external drive has so much storage. Over triple what I've had in the past. I'm looking for reccomendations on what to store in it. Functionally, the device is perfect. Read/write speeds around 200mb/s, which could be better. I bought this device for $182 after a 15% hard drive trade in discount. Makes this an incredibly good deal! Please don't purchase it for more than $250, this thing goes on sale year-round. Also note that this external drive is shuckable- this means you can take it out of its shell and install it in a 3.5" drive bay, provided you tape off some very specific pins. Follow the guide on r/datahoarder for specific details!

Great external hard drive.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Came with everything needed to use it. Got the drive on sale for $199 in November 2020. Excellent purchase for that price. Like my 12TB Easystore, this 14TB runs cool (5400 rpm) and quite. Got 12.7TB usable capacity after formatting under NTFS. Been buying Western Digital bare drives for years (they used to have 5 year warranties back in the day) as they've been much more reliable then Seagate's which used to fail constantly for me personally and at work. Hopefully these Easystore's will just as reliable.

Great/Reliable External Hard Drive.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item has been great. It is fast and reliable. I was able to grab it on sale, which was awesome. Great for storing games, music, and movies. I purchased a 2 TB one of these about 10 years ago and its still kicking, so I am sure this 14 TB will be around for years. Total Space is 14 TB, but Windows breaks it down to slightly above 12.7

Just as good as the 4TB Book drive it replaced.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup, didn't use the WD software included as mainly using it as a duplicate backup drive. Same reliable transfer speeds as my old WD 4TB Book drive it replaced. Not too loud even being right behind my monitor on the desk.

Great chunk of extra storage
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These massive harddrives were a great buy on sale. They are very responsive even though they only have 5400rpm drive. However, that means they will last longer and generate less heat. I tested throughput and it was not much less than a 7200rpm seagate external, so that means it is limited by the USB3.1 speed.

Q: QuestionIs this a 14 TB? The photos above show only 12.7 TB available !!
Asked by SherryS87.
- A:Answer Operating systems usually report drive capacity in a scale based on powers of 1024. However, drives are usually advertised with the capacity quoted in a shorter scale based on powers of 1000, resulting in a larger number. This accounts for most of the difference.

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with iMac?
Asked by TONY.
- A:Answer Yes, I bought mine to use as a Time Machine backup for my iMac. As with most external drives you might buy, however, it comes formatted for use on a PC. It does include backup software that can be installed on a Mac, but I would recommend against that unless you aren't interested in using the iMac's built-in backup software. If you intend to use this as a Time Machine backup, it should be reformatted using Apple's Disk Utility, which can be found in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder, or simply click on the Spotlight eyeglass on the right side of the menu bar and type Disk Utility. After plugging the drive into your iMac, it should appear in the list of disks on the left side of the Disk Utility window. Click on the drive and then click on the "Erase" tab, select the format you wish to use and type in the name you wish to give your new disk drive, then click on the Erase button. Time Machine backups need to be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and if you wish, Encrypted. Encryption provides another layer of security if there's a chance someone might break in and steal your Mac - otherwise it's not necessary. Once it's reformatted, your iMac will probably ask you if you wish to use the disk with Time Machine, so just click Yes. If you plan to use this for mass storage for something like storing your photos or other media, you can use Mac OS Extended (Journaled), or you might want to use Apple's newer APFS format, which provides better file management and faster searching, but it's only compatible with newer iMacs running Mojave or Catalina.
