“I have a 31 I-MAC that hasn't been started in 6 years. I know. Back then, I split the hard drive 50/50. Half Mac, Half Windows. Don't remember the IOS version, but I was using Windows 7. I want to back up, before I go exploring the computer. ???? Advise!”

Hi SCINLA, You can take backup on another external hard drive. Once the backup completed you can erase the data from the existing drive. This process might corrupts your data due to partition failure or macOS partition error. We would recommend you to perform this operation in an expert's observation.
