“My drive is working fine for the most part on Windows 7 - however, the scheduled backups using the included WD software always says last backup "missed" when I check. Its set for 12 am. I can run it manually with no problem. Has anyone had this issue?”

I find the backup software that comes with most external hard drives isn't that great. At download.com (owned by CNet / CBS) you can find an open source program called Cobian Backup, which is free and does a much better job and is more configurable that the Western Digital backup software.
