• Yes, I have 2 laptops and have plugged in to both at different times and was able to down load my files from on laptop to the other. Have done a Back Up on both also. Hope that helps with what you need.

• Yes, but you will have to reformat the drive to either ex-fat or fat32 before you can use it for both systems. You can google directions to reformat.
