• Yes, if you format it correctly. Go to utilities - disk utilities and erase the drive. It will give you an option to rename it then keep it MAC OS X journaled. Just make sure you erase the easystore and not your actual hard drive. It's clear but just double-check.

• This should work but it would require you reformat the drive. This means yo would not be able to se the built in software.
