Has 3.0 up to 5GB speed as other models. Only difference is you can’t have passcode or encryption but no big deal unless you need security

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it is compatible with PS4 as either extended storage or backup storage, BUT it's not formatted for either. And each of those options - extended storage and backup storage - requires a different path from other other in Settings. I wanted backup storage and messed around with it long enough to figure it out. So, yes, it's compatible with PS4, although I'd disagree with the response that says it's ready to go out of the box.

Please try again later.I got this external hard drive as a birthday present less than a half month ago and I have not had a single good day with this hard drive when used with my PS4. If **anything** loads while the hard drive is downloading any update or game or anything, then EVERYTHING on the external hard drive is corrupted and the ps4 shuts down or does a hard shut down or, if you are lucky, it just says the hard drive needs repairing (which the ps4 tries to do); but even after the 30 or so times that the ps4 has tried to repair the hard drive so far, it ALWAYS lists every file as corrupted and wants me to then formal the external hard drive and start from scratch. Today was my day off but my wife is the one that ordered it and SHE has to request her money back even though it was a gift. I am so sorry that we ever got this thing. I really had high hopes for having a good external hard drive because the ps4's 500Gig just isn't enough when several people use my playstation each week, all of them wanting to download games and therefore deleting my games. I would highly recommend NOT getting this piece of junk for a ps4. It is compatible, yes, but that doesn't mean it's going to work. ANY external hard drive up to 8 Gig, according to Sony, is compatible but some work a lot better than others.
