• Yes. as long as you are backing up to the same type of computer, mac to mac or PC to PC, yes you can. If you are going Mac to PC or PC to mac, you have to reformat the WD external hard drive to either Exfat, if its Mac or Fat32, if it's PC.

• Yes, this drive would work great for that. Also, this can be used on either a Windows PC or MAC.
