As best I can tell, the WD40EZAZ (which uses SMR) is the probable HDD. This isn't as big an issue with Easystore drives as it would be with raid systems. Since I'm assuming the drive will mostly be used for back-ups, the SMR with the USB interface will only affect backup speed. Figure around 10-20% less than a PMR drive
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine (purchased in July) was not an SMR Drive - It was a WD40EZRZ. According to Western Digital's statement from April, while the WD20EZRZ and the WD60EZRZ DO use SMR drives, this particular model does not.
