You could, but you could run out of space quickly since multiple backups are generally made of each drive. Most backup software only backs up the changes since the last backup, so you're not copying the full drive each time but always have the latest full backup available. It's helpful to have multiple backups so you can go back to an older version which may contain a file you need but have since deleted. The more space you have on your backup drive, the further back in time you can go.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use the 4TB to backup the 3 computers. Even though each has a 1TB drive you won't have a full TB of data on each one. When you backup each one name the file so that you know which computer that backup is for in case you need to do a restore at some point.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have windows 10 installed on all the computers, you can use the hard drive with each computer monthly to back up your computer files. Windows 10 allows you to choose where you want to back up the files..as in separate multiple folders, stored on the WD hard drive. But you will have to label each folder for the right computer and always use that folder for the same computer when you plug it in for a back up. The backup in Windows 10 allows you to back up what ever folders you wish, pictures music documents etc...rarely will a backup use 1tb of space or your whole hard drive on the computer being backed up.
