I have WD's 3TB MyBook(3 yrs old) that spins @~5400rpm. It can read & write up 110+MBs/sec, but frequently writes between 25 and 50 MBs/sec when transferring video files from my HDD. Some large files of over 500MB are written to the MyBook @ over 100MBs/sec, while other similarly sized files take 2 to 4 times as long...If the newer EasyStore drives run at up to 7200rpm, reading & writing should be 10 to 20+ percent faster(>120MBs/sec). Writing to MyBook (or any other drive) may be slowed because the file being transferred is fragmented on the originating disk.
