Not directly. You can’t just plug it in and call it good. You need to move stuff off of the internal drive for it to have more space.

It is a portable drive, which means that it will be powered by the USB port on your computer and thus can travel with you. (You can have access to that data anywhere you have your laptop running.) As long as you have data that can be moved off in that way, you should be fine. The alternative would be to look at replacing the drive in the system with a larger one and moving your data over to it. That can be a lot of work but it is nice to have everything in one place like that, just be sure and back things up.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes and no. This external drive will provide 4TB of extra storage to your system, but it is not automatic. You must manage the space. Windows will not automatically use the extra space. You can certainly move pictures, movies, songs or data to this external drive, then inform Windows or whichever programs you are using that the location of the data has changed. But any data that is placed on the external drive requires that you have this drive plugged in to access it. In general, for an external drive - it is surprisingly fast and obviously large.
