I would say it depends on how you're going to use it. I typically get mine out about 1xmonth to put pictures, files, etc. on, and then put it away. I have some older Passports that have held up really well despite some abuse. If you worried about dropping it (do you drop cell phones? It is a similar size/weight), you might want to get the protection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.all drives eventually fail. if the plan is 10% or less of the price, i'd go for it. however, i have EVERYTHING that i care about DOUBLY backed up on 2 separate drives. one at home, and one it the safe deposit box
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Up to you. Do you tend of breaking externals a lot? Do you move the external while it’s transfering data? It’s not a SSD, so treat it as such. There’s an actual disc spinning in this thing. Definitely don’t bump it while it’s transfering data.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'd say yes, as you would need it, but the drive is not worth considering to begin with. Go with the My Passport instead, and then consider the need and practicality of choosing coverage (it has a longer warranty to begin with).
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.depends on if you want the added protection, I have seen hard drives last 10-15 years, but also seen them last 2 months. Its all personal preference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I persoanlly do not believe it is neccesary unless you are moving the HDD around a lot, but if it will remain stationary I do not believe any issues will arise. If you drink coffee or always have some form of liquid near your laptop often then it could be useful
