If "the Easystore series does not have built-in encryption/ password protection utilities. Additionally, the Easystore drives are not of as high a quality and come with a shorter warranty period". Then why is the Easystore more expensive than the Passport when the Passport has better features?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I work for a local IT company serving small and medium size customers. Besides the obvious differences. The answer is application. If you just want to store movies provide sharing on your network, etc then Easy Store is for you. Easy to use, no wasted space on unneeded software, and no worry about providing passwords every time you turn on or wake up your computer. If you are using it for backup we use and recommend "Passport". Many companies are OK with backup on a cloud, however many are not, especially companies working on proprietary products (like medical devices) or companies doing government classified work. For those wishing on site backup, Passport is for you. You can put it on a device on your network backing up company files using whatever backup software you wish, ideally this computer has limited or no internet access. The passport has the additional feature of protecting against ransom ware. If ransomware tries to access it, the Passport device will reject the request unless it can provide the encryption key (password). We also recommend that the customer change their Passport devices periodically for off site storage. This gives you disaster recovery capability, ransomware protection without cloud subscriptions or the inherent (real or perceived) data risk with a cloud, at a reasonable one time cost.

The drives within are not of the same quality as My Passports, nor even the lower-end Elements line. I've had all THREE I've tried FAIL (my fault for drinking the kool-aid), and due to extended writes/reads in normal temperatures. I have My Passports bought before which have seen more use and which are still giving perfect diagnostic reports. AVOID the EasyStore line. STICK to the My Passports.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have both a Passport and an EasyStore. They are the same thing. The EasyStore comes with some extra software that I deleted when reformatting so it doesn't matter. I use both for Mac Time Machine backups. They perform the same in my opinion.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Easystore series does not have built-in encryption/ password protection utilities. Additionally, the Easystore drives are not of as high a quality and come with a shorter warranty period. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have two 2TB Passports and one 4TB Easystore: All work fine. No difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The functionality is the same. Elements drives are smaller than Passports. Thats really about it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I own both and see no difference. As far as I can tell the easy has more storage.
