It is compatible with Mac after a quick format by Time Machine. Encryption Also worked.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just purchased to use with a Mac. I can’t remember if it was formatted for Mac - I seriously doubt it was as it is not specifically for Mac. I formatted and partitioned in less than 5 minutes from opening box to backing up. It seems to be a great drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, according to the box, the drive is Time Machine compatible and they even mention you will need to reformat it. Choose the disk in Time Machine and Time Machine will reformat the drive for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Time Machine is compatible with just about any external drive that's large enough. These come formatted as NTFS, so you will need to reformat. I believe drives always need to be reformatted for time machine anyway. Backups should be able to be encrypted on any drive.
