• Hello, Please note that you can format the drive for Time Machine backups or use it for general storage. However, you cannot do both at the same time. Also, we do not recommend partitioning the drive. • Yes you can, I divided my 6TB drive into 2 3TB partitions, using one for my Time Machine backup
