USB 3 can handle upto 500MB or 5 Gb/sec. But thats just the interface. I believe this drive will handle sustained around 150MB a second. The burst speed will be faster because of the cache on the drive. I think when i did my testing it was between 200 and 130MB a sec or so. Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No matter the cable or type of connector, I am getting roughly 200 MB/s. That is even with SATA, USB C USB Gen 2, and Active Thunderbolt.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am currently transferring data to the 18TB version of these and I'm getting 1.47 - 1.53Gbps (183-191MBps). I've been monitoring this performance for 5 hours today.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have not calculated the write speed, but I regularly when transfering 70-80GB of data from another 1 year old 6TB WD USB 3.0 to this 8TB one using my 2 year old MacBook Pro which has a SSD have it finish in 10-11 minutes, but the drives are very sensitive to vibration as once had a lightning strike that shook everything cause the write speeds to drop for a minute, and it took 12 minutes to transfer about 71GB data because of that. Also because of the high speed of these drives, power interuptions can mess them up more so than slower older drives so, esepecially if using one during a storm, have it plugged into battery backup outlets of a UPS for power as drive wont work just on power from USB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It would be the same specs as WD storage hard drive at 5400 RPM but USB 3 does help the transfer rates, well over 100Mb per second. it does work nice I transferred 480 Gb with in two hours, and the source drive was an older platter drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Lowest I get is maybe 128 MB/s, highest is over 180 MB/s. This is due to where the head is in writing on the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 3 of these. Over usb3.0 coming from a Samsung 850 pro I can write to it at 100 to 150mb/sec.. If removed and connected via sata I get transfer speeds of 500-700mb/sec. Note that one of my drives worked with no issues connected via sata. 2 of them had the new sata interface with 3.3v on pins 1 through 3 which causes the drive to not be detected due to incorrect voltage. You have to use either a molex to sata adapter or tape pins 1-3 to block the 3.3v pins so it'll only use the standard 5v pins. I've safely done both.
