“Type and/or speed? Is this a traditional hdd, or an ssd? If traditional, at what speed does it spin (5400 or 7200 rpm)? If ssd, I assume it has a SATA III interface?”

It doesn't 'spin'. It has no power supply, is a USB only connection and stores your data like a giant 'thumb drive'.
