This will work perfectly on Windows 7. You can use it out of the box without reformatting it, or you're welcome to load up the western digital software if you want it to auto backup and give you other options for the drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had mine connected 2 different ways. Once was to plug it directly into my Windows 7 pc and the other was to use it as a network device via my Netgear router and now backing up 2 separate pc's. Worked just fine either way. HTH.
