Is this a desktop drive or a portable drive? null

It is fairly large to be considered a portable drive, and it requires an ac adapter to be pugged in.

This drive requires an AC adapter to work. It does not run on USB power.

This external drive is the size of a childrens shoe box and does not go inside a desktop.

I would call it a desktop drive. It requires external power.

Desktop. It must be plugged into a wall outlet. However, I move mine around to 3 different computers for monthly backup. Some hassle, but it works.

It's a desktop drive but it's not huge. I move it back and forth between two computers without a problem.

This is a portable drive. It has a USB 3.0 connection.
