• Yes, it will work as an external hard drive with Windows XP. If there is any utility software pre-loaded on the drive for backup or encryption, that software might not have been tested on the obsolete XP operating system, but that won't interfere with using the drive.

• yes it will work with windows xp i use xp at work and windows 10 at home and have no problem getting files from all window product

• I used a smaller ! TB WD on my laptop with Win 7 and Win 8 and now on Win 10. It is USB so it fits any computer with USB as far as I know.

• It will work fine with Windows XP, but you should consider upgrading XP is out of date and no longer patched.
