A Simple format will "delete" all the files. Remember this just removes pointer to the files on the disk, the files are really still there until written over by a file being saved into the same location. If you want to physically erase the data (overwrite the data so it is physically removed) you could use aftermarket software such as Partition Wizard or Acronis which can overwrite all the data multiple times making it very difficult for anyone to recover the data that was on it.
