“My windows 10 system will not boot when My Book 4tb is plugged in. When it is not plugged in my system boots fine. And when I plug the drive in it seems to run fine. What do I need to do?>”

Had the same problem with a ASUS desktop . I opened the BOIs and checked my boot settings .. The internal drive was set first followed by the DVD drive then the external drives ... I reset the boot to first DVD drive then internal drive then external drive and it worked for me .. you might try this fix on your problem ..

HelpDeskGeek has a guide called “Unable to Boot Windows with External Hard Drive Attached?”- you may need to work through the steps before it works. I had the same problem, but I can’t remember exactly how I fixed it- I may have plugged it into my PC after starting it, and then setting it up fixed the issue.
