Hi, you can use the USB Connection to connect directly toy our computer for file transfer. Using this basically makes the unit a USB external hard drive instead of a NAS
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is NOT possible to hook this drive up to a PC via a USB cable. That port is iPads, tablets etc as well as for an external hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, there are two port on the front of the drive that are powered, so you can use them anyway that you would normally use a USB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If I understand your question, you are asking if you are able to create a connection to your computer through the USB port. The USB is 3.0 and backwards compatible to 2.0 so yes you are able to plug and play in windows. As soon as you connect to your PC Windows detects and shows it as a drive, you can then drag and drop or save directly through programs to the WD drive. I use mine to transfer files from my main desktop running Windows 10, to my laptop running Windows 7, and my business tablet running Windows 10. Hope this helps.
