I have Outlook 2013 and it is not an issue with it and I do not remember seeing any technical differences of that nature between the 2013 and 2016 versions but a visit to MSDN.microsoft.com should resolve the question if you want to look further. A file is a file and unless it has problems being stored on a NTFS formatted drive, it should store just fine. Again, just my opinion but I do have 40 years doing programming and analysis across mostly Windows, UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms and believe me, storage was always up there on our list of things to get right. If you still have doubts, hit up MSDN and get one of their chat sessions going and you should get an absolutely definitive answer quickly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No problem. It will seem like another drive on your computer. For all practical purposes, you will not even realize that it's a network drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can store almost any file on it, even corrupt files. It is just a storage device that is excessiable anywhere.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes If just want to make a copy of the .pst file for a backup then yes this will work perfectly. You can set it to do nightly backup. Please note that if outlook is open, it will not backup the file. So make sure close outlook before you go to bed or leave work. if you are planning on having this .pst as your main pst that you access every time you open outlook, you are going to have issues if you lose network connection or try access it remotely and if it is huge file, you will have extremely slow file opening times. You are better off putting a thumb drive with a large enough size into your computer USB port and leaving it in there and taking it out for security purposes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. From the replies I got it looks like this box is useless to me. I do not want to drag and drop files. Data file locations are configured in Outlook and it writes to the location automatically. Also, WD Quick View never starts up on my Windows 10 system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can store it there.
