This is not a wifi hot spot so people cannot access it. And you can also turn it off. Only thing is you won't be able to access when it's off. You can get other NAS hard drive only for your home network. I have Seagate 3tb nas and it works great. Everybody in my house has their own password for their files. And yes, you can turn it off if you want.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is not automatically accessable to internet. You have to set this up if you want that. Otherwise it can be accessed by internal network users only
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yo do not have to enable the cloud access part at all. I bought one of these to use as a file server in my house, and it works fantastically well for that. Definitely invest in a gigabit router if you do not have one already. It makes a huge difference in the transfer rate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes Go to Dashboard go to general settings and turn off remote access
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm the same way !!! There is a setting to turn off cloud access. That's how mine is set up. You can turn the cloud access on/off at any time. Not sure how to use it since I have no intention to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can turn it off if you want that extra bit of security, but if you have it connected to "your" personal network i.e. a wireless router...you should have that router secured by a WEP key code. I'll never say unauthorized access couldn't happen to you, but I've had good luck using the WEP key code and Norton Anti-Virus protection. I would not recommend storing any personal or financial information on ANY cloud. Good luck, I think you'll enjoy the convenience of the MyCloud.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe that no one can access your mycloud; only people who are listed in it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Short answer NO, You can however turn on the hardrive password feature on and If you do not setup an account with the public site, there will not be access. Also remember anything you have connected to a modem is accesible to the "internet" if people are looking hard enough
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I have this WD cloud drive and have multiple PC's setup to use it for storage and backup and it is not accesible from the internet. It is a device on my home wireless router which has a firewall in addition to the drive being setup to only allow local access. If you are not sure of yourself setting this up correctly however to keep your information secure, get help from someone knowledgeable.
