No, all of the software is free for download on WD's website. Also, the apps for tablets/phones are all free. The only purchase you have to make is the actual product!

You just select the My Cloud from your devices 'store' and download the appropriate app and you are done. Easy. Apps for Apple, iOS, Android etc. Works flawlessly with my iMac. Once you get used to My Cloud, you can move all your files and data to the My Cloud and then just delete those other paid accounts!!! This works very well for me. The only need for iCloud any more is simply to sync my calendars with my wife and daughter.
