Nope. Couldn't get through the setup without a drive installed. I was hoping to just use the bare drive to manage two USB drives but no workey like that.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m not sure but I think you need at least one drive in it to set it up. Most of the setup is formatting and configuring the drives. Setup was pretty quick and easy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Based on my limited experience, you need both of the drives to complete the setup. I started with two drives but one came in DOA so I had to wait until the replacement arrived. WD offers 30 days help for initial setup and they were very helpful when I was able to really get the setup going.
