Paul, this hard drive should work for you. I didn't install any of the extra software it comes with and the drive showed up on my windows machine. I would imagine it would do the same on the Mac. I did NOT test this on a Mac though. But it should be compatible.

I needed to move files from my old Mac to my new Windows computer. It is definitely possible with this drive, you'll just need to format it before you use it.
