“Does this work with 10.6.8 OS? Attempted OS upgrades have failed; until I can take the iMac to the local Mac guy, I need an external HD to replace the one (WD) that has apparently croaked. Once the OS has been upgraded, would this HD still work?”

I have used both Seagate and Western a digital drive. They both work seamlessly with any Mac OS from OS 8 and above. Also you can switch between Mac and PC as long as they are files - not Exe files on Windows. Everything else should work like MS Office, Adobe, etc. The only thing I can't do is transfer or read CADD files (like Bently, Autodesk, etc.)
