I think it depends on how you format the disk upon set up. I have all Macs so I’ve never had to do that. Go on line and do some research. Look at the videos.

Hi tomsquestion, Please know that the My Passport for Mac portable storage works straight out of the box with macOS devices. Unfortunately, the backup of any macOS computer can not be restored on windows. However, you can use external drive in exfat file system format to manually move the data from mac to windows or vice-versa.
