You will have to format a Mac formatted hard drive with a Macintosh to have a FAT or (better) an ex-Fat partition before it can be seen by a Windows computer.

Please try again later.Any hard drive is, but this one comes formatted for Mac, so you have to format it for PC (unless you have a utility program on your PC to read Mac-formatted drives). You can format it for PC in Disk Utility on the Mac, but the options aren't as good as on the PC itself. Either way, formatting a drive is trivial. It erases everything on the drive, but that doesn't matter with a new one.
