Yes, this works with Dish DVR. I don't know about Direct tv.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All USB 3.0 external drives and other devices are ALL backwards compatible for 2.0 and 1.0 USB. I would recommend WESTERN DIGITAL devices. Since you are using this device purely as a DVR pseudo backup try and pick the largest drives possible. They make up to 5 or 6 gb external drive that cost what a 500 gb cost just 3:yrs ago. If you need small choose the WD ultra 2 gb. Biggest thing to remember, if you download HD TV each show usually is over 1 gb a piece. Keep this in mind if you download a series or just download a huge amount of movies. I have literally downloaded HD movies that are from 3 to 6 gb. The higher the quality...Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure about direct tv but dish has a 2 terabyte thresh hold and it will use 3 terabyte because it formats the hard drive but after it is formatted you will not be able to see it on a computer you can always watch through the dvr but nothing else and it will use only 2 tb even if it is a 3 or 4 tb so no need to waste your money on a larger dr.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It worked for mine. We stored many movies on here
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will have to check with you for manufacturer is the USB port will supply the power needed. With my dvr, I have to use an external hard drive that has an external power source ( plug it in ). I hope this helps you out
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The HD can be used with certain DVR systems. It will depend on your provider and equipment. Please contact your provider for details.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This drive is compatible with 2.0 USB so your DVR unit should have no problems reading it. However, you have to check your DVR's instructions and figure out what type of format it can read (e.g. Windows NTFS, Mac OS X Extended Journaled, FAT32). The DVR will probably only read FAT32 format in which case you will have to format the hard drive for it to work on your unit. Hope this helps.
